Adoptions from Foster Care

We’ve been back and forth about whether to adopt from a private agency or whether to adopt from foster care. Due to a lot of reading and soul searching we decided to adopt from foster care. Well, with a bit more reading I’ve started wondering about how kids that were adopted from foster care feel about it.

Since we are looking to adopt a newborn I’m wondering if the child will feel some-kinda-way about being taken from their birth parents? I wonder how much they will want to know about the situation that put them in foster care? I wonder if they will resent us for “taking” them from their parents?

Does anyone have any feedback on adults that were adopted from foster care?

  1. The mayor of a town near us was adopted from foster care. He is very proud of that fact. His brother was also adopted and has a lot of anger issues. Each situation is different I think. We have chosen to adopt internationally due to the long wait time for adoption in the US. Decide what is best for your family. Praying for your adoption process!
